Vanessa graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School with a Juris Doctorate in 2009. In 2006, she received an Honours B.A. with high distinction from the University of Toronto with majors in Italian and Sociology. Vanessa spent her third year at U of T on exchange studying at the University of Siena in Italy. She speaks Italian, Spanish, and French.
During her time at Osgoode, Vanessa spent a semester studying criminal law as part of Osgoode's Intensive Criminal Law Program; it involved a six-week placement with the judges at a Toronto area criminal court. Vanessa also contributed regularly to Osgoode's student newspaper, the Obiter Dicta.
Vanessa has published in the Criminal Law Quarterly and in 2010 she had an article published in the Canadian Family Law Quarterly about the fathers' rights movement.
Vanessa worked at Niman Zemans Gelgoot LLP during the summer of 2008, and returned to complete her articling term in August of 2009. She was called to the Bar of Ontario in June of 2010.
